One poor decision will haunt her forever.

Macy Mercer only wants a little independence. Eager to prove herself grown up, she goes to a dark, secluded park. She’s supposed to meet the boy of her dreams who she met online. But the cute fifteen year old was a fantasy, his pictures fake. She finds herself face to face with Chester Woodran, a man capable of murder.

Distraught over his own missing daughter, Chester insists that Macy replace his lost girl. He locks Macy up, withholds food, and roughs her up, demanding that she call him dad. Under duress from his constant threats and mind games, her hold on reality starts to slip. Clinging to her memories is the only way of holding onto her true identity, not believing that she is Chester’s daughter. Otherwise she may never see her family again.

Gone is the first novel in the Gone saga, a trilogy of psychological suspense thrillers. If you enjoy page turning suspense with constant twists and turns, then you'll love this nail-biting read.

Author Description:
I love writing, reading, and watching most anything paranormal. My favorite shows include Supernatural, Vampire Diaries, Fringe, Pretty Little Liars, and Once Upon a Time.

I've been writing and telling stories for as long as I can remember. As a kid, my story telling would get me into trouble when I would try to convince others that my stories were real.

When I'm not busy writing, I spend time with my family. I also run a home preschool and educate my kids from home.

Author Description:
I was born in East Texas and spent most of my life there, principally around the Bryan and College Station area. I moved to Austin, Texas, in 2002 and shortly thereafter began writing The Bill Travis Mystery series. I currently live in Austin with my lovely wife, Sallie, along with two cats and two dogs.

Writing is both my avocation and my vocation, but to add to these I play both classical violin and country fiddle, and I dabble in art (mostly drawing and painting), photography, and book cover design.

I began writing in earnest in 1986, although I have been creatively writing far longer than that, practically since I could read (at a very formative age.) I find that I have far more ideas than I could ever write down, and so I pick and choose only the best story ideas. I write what I, myself, like to read, and nothing more.

I am always happy to talk to a reader and would dearly love to hear your comments. Please visit my website at www.georgewier.com or my series website at www.billtravismysteries.com. There you will find free short stories, anecdotes, and links to other books and writers.

LASSITER

Jake Lassiter

Author: Paul Levine

Price: $ 0.99

GET DEAL at Amazon

Eighteen years ago, Jake Lassiter crossed paths with a teenage runaway who disappeared into South Florida’s sex trade. Now he traces her steps and runs head-on into a conspiracy of Miami’s rich and powerful who would do anything to keep the past as silent as the grave. In this tale of redemption and revenge, Edgar-nominated author Paul Levine delivers his most powerful thriller yet.

Jake Lassiter, second-string linebacker turned low-rent lawyer, is cynical about the law, but if you hire him, he’ll take a punch for you . . . and maybe a swing at the prosecutor, too.

Amy Larkin—beautiful, angry, and mysterious—accuses Lassiter of involvement in the disappearance of her sister eighteen years earlier. What does Lassiter know about Krista Larkin, the runaway teen turned porn actress? More than he’s saying.

Seeking to atone for his own past, Lassiter follows the cold trail of the missing Krista and butts head with the powerful men who also knew her: a former porn king turned philanthropist, a slick Cuban-born prosecutor, and an aging mobster.

The evidence leads to a long-ago night of kinky sex, designer drugs—and possible murder. But before Lassiter can nail the truth, a gun goes off, a suspect falls dead, and Lassiter has a murder trial to defend. Will the verdict disclose what happened to Krista? The answer, buried under years of deceit and corruption, is revealed in an explosive courtroom finale, proving that rough justice is better than no justice at all.

Author Description:
PAUL LEVINE worked as a newspaper reporter, a law professor and a trial lawyer before becoming a full-time novelist. Obviously, he cannot hold a job. Paul claims that writing fiction comes naturally: he told whoppers for many years in his legal briefs. His books have been translated into 23 languages, none of which he can read.

He has won the John D. MacDonald fiction award and has been nominated for an Edgar, a Macavity, the International Thriller Writers Award, and the James Thurber Humor Prize. More info at www.paul-levine.com

What's new? "Lassiter" and "Last Chance Lassiter" are Paul's latest entries on Kindle. "To Speak for the Dead" continues its bestseller status more than 20 years after its hardcover publication.

Writing in USA TODAY, Larry King called the Lassiter series, "Mystery writing at its very, very best."

Uneasy Spirits

A Victorian San Francisco Mystery

Author: M. Louisa Locke

Price: $ 0.99

GET DEAL at Amazon

In this sequel to Maids of Misfortune, it is the fall of 1879 and Annie Fuller, a young San Francisco widow, has a problem. Despite her growing financial success as the clairvoyant Madam Sibyl, Annie doesn't believe in the astrology and palmistry her clients think are the basis for her advice.

Kathleen Hennessey, Annie Fuller's young Irish maid, has a plan. When her mistress is asked to expose a fraudulent trance medium, Arabella Frampton, Kathleen is determined to assist in the investigation, just like the Pinkerton detectives she has read about in the dime novels.

Nate Dawson, up-and-coming San Francisco lawyer, has a dilemma. He wants to marry the unconventional Annie Fuller, but he doesn't feel he can reveal his true feelings until he has a way to make enough money to support her.

In Uneasy Spirits, this cozy historical mystery of romantic suspense, Annie delves into the intriguing world of 19th century spiritualism, encountering true believers and naïve dupes, clever frauds and unexplained supernatural phenomena. She will soon find there are as many secrets as there are spirits swirling around the Frampton séance table. Some of those secrets will threaten the foundation of her career as Madam Sibyl and the future of her relationship with Nate Dawson, and, in time, they will threaten her very life itself.

Uneasy Spirits is the second book in M. Louisa Locke's Victorian historical mystery series, followed by Bloody Lessons. There are currently three short stories based on the characters from the novels, Dandy Detects, The Misses Moffet Mend a Marriage, and Mr. Wong Rights a Wrong.

Author Description:
Lisa Pietsch was born Lisa Thibault in Lewiston, Maine. Her father was a carpenter and her mother a homemaker. It was a modest, middle-class world for this 3rd generation American whose family still spoke a mish-mash of French and English at home. Her grandparents were the first of her family born in the U.S. while her Thibault and Gravel forefathers were counted among the early few French settlers in Quebec.

Lisa has enjoyed many adventures in her lifetime and is still racking up more. A significant amount of time in the United States Air Force yielded far more adventures than she'd ever imagined. Though the photo at right is in dress blues, Lisa preferred combat boots, BDUs and a bandana for headgear (see below). She was most happy carrying machine guns and heavy packs of ammunition. But that was a long time ago.

Lisa traded in her combat boots for wedded bliss and motherhood. Little did she know, "Wedded" and "Bliss" didn't always go together. The bliss part would come later though.

Escaping into an alternate future, Lisa wrote several novels based around the character Sarah Stevens. The were well received and her experience in promoting them gave her the confidence to seek a life of her own as a novelist and marketing consultant.

She achieved considerable success in bringing in results for her clients but wondered if she might prefer to write full time. Finally, circumstances allowed her to explore it and she discovered that her passion really was in marketing but would continue to write on the side.
